What is "Threshold"?
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines it as:
THRESHOLD
1: the plank, stone, or piece of timber that lies under a door : sill
2 a : Gate or door b (1) : end or boundary, specifically : the end of a runway (2) : the place or point of entering or beginning : outset <on the threshold of a new age>
3 a : the point at which a physiological or psychological effect begins to be produced <has a high threshold for pain> b : a level, point, or value above which something is true or will take place and below which it is not or will not.
Threshold is your gateway into the BDSM / Leather Community. Our very name tells you what our mission is: We are here to help you enter into this lifestyle with knowledge, confidence and safety. We will be here for your entire journey, for as long as you wish to travel it. That's our goal and our mission.
If you're new to all of this, you will find Threshold to be a place where you are welcomed. Where you are greeted and embraced but most importantly, where you can learn and develop an understanding of what the BDSM & Leather community is really like. You can ask questions of anybody, from our Board of Directors to our Dungeon Monitors, to our members and guests. And you can attend affordable classes, discussion groups, and demonstrations.
We think of ourselves as a community center, so you'll be hard pressed to find cliques that don't welcome you.
And for those of you who have been in the BDSM community for awhile, you know we have great parties, fine furniture, and our non-profit status means we take every dollar that comes in and we turn in back into your club. We're a volunteer based organization, people who give to the community because it's right, and it's good, and doing so strengthens us all.
Threshold has been in Los Angeles for nearly 30 years, and we are going to be here for another 300. Or 3,000. Or even longer. As long as you want to be a part of this amazing lifestyle and perversely fun, complex, and life-affirming culture, Threshold is here to help you cross... well,cross the Threshold!
